What is the Household Benefits Package?
The Household Benefits Package is a package of allowances per household which help you with the costs of running your household. You must be fully resident in the State to receive this allowance and only one member of a household can qualify for the Household Benefits Package. There are two allowances: the Electricity or Gas Allowance and the Free Television Licence.
Who can get Household Benefits?
You may get Household Benefits if:
- You are aged over 70.
- You are aged between 66 and 70 and are getting a State Pension.
- You are aged between 66 and 70 and are not getting a State Pension but satisfy a means test.
- You are aged under 70 and getting an equivalent Social Security Pension/Benefit from another country.
- You are aged under 66 and are getting Disability Allowance, Invalidity Pension, Blind Persons Pension or Incapacity Supplement with Disablement Benefit.
- You are receiving a Bereaved Partner’s Pension or a Garda Widow’s/Widower’s Pension are aged between 60 and 65 and your late spouse or partner was getting the Household Benefits Package.
- You are receiving Carer's Allowance for a person you live with and are caring for.

Your living situation
You will be asked about where you live and if anyone in your household has received or is receiving the Household Benefits Package
Your relationship details
You will need to provide your relationship status and may be required to provide further details of those living with you, including their PPS Number
Your electricity/gas and TV licence details
You will need to provide your electricity MPRN or gas GPRN. You may also need to provide your Television Licence Reference number
Your Payment Details
You will need to provide details of the bank account into which you would like to be paid or the post office for collection.
